I recently purchased a new iPhone which granted me a free one year subscription to Apple TV, so I did what anyone would do and I started checking out the content. I found The Morning Show, which I had heard about in passing and stars two of my favorite actresses, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
Look at these two! Disclaimer: they don’t get along like this all the time.
I’m pretty simple when it comes to shows I stream, I’ve watched all the episodes of The Office three times each, I enjoy Impractical Jokers and I’m a huge fan of the wildly inappropriate It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia; don’t judge me, these are happy places for me and they make me laugh!
The Morning Show offers a lot of drama and springboards off of the #MeToo movement to add a very complicated angle to this show. Any woman can identify with the issues encountered in season 1 of The Morning Show. It’s great television, and I would be lying if I didn’t understand the issues surrounding men in positions of power in the workplace. So, there is a real life element in the show regarding this, but we have an agitator in Reese’s character, Bradley Jackson, a replacement for Steve Carell’s disgraced character on the Morning Show. Bradley is a reporter from West Virginia and she’s a juggernaut who continuously pushes the entire team of The Morning Show with her off script interviewing and her continual pursuit of the truth about what happened at The Morning Show. Alex Levy, played by Jennifer Aniston, spends much of her time mired in misery, everything about her life is fragile and she’s in a tailspin over her former co-hosts, Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell) apparent abuse of power. Or is she really in a tailspin?
While I’m not finished season one yet, I’m going to go ahead and give this first season a five star rating. I’m hoping that season 2 will be premiering soon.
